Where does the data come from?

Water temperature comes from the G4S and Forus beach sensors, air temperature and wind from the nearest Ilmateenistus station (Pärnu), and the UV index from Open-Meteo. Readings are refreshed several times a day when available.

What do the flag colours mean?

Green means swimming is safe. Yellow calls for caution (strong wind, high waves or poor visibility) and red means it is not worth going in. A purple flag indicates water pollution.

How strong a wind is still fine for a SUP?

Up to about 4 m/s is comfortable for a beginner; the more experienced manage at 6-7 m/s. The wind here is currently 2 m/s, tüüne, ideaalne algajale. In strong wind and gusts a board drifts quickly into open water. Always watch the wind direction too: an offshore wind carries you out to sea.

How warm does the water need to be?

While you stay on the board the water warmth is not decisive, you can paddle already at 12 °C. We recommend wearing a life vest and keeping in mind that cold water is a shock if you fall in.

How do I book a SUP?

What the flag colours mean

Green. The water is calm, conditions are good and the water is above 18 °C. Safe for swimming.

Yellow. Water 16–18 °C, or strong wind, high waves or unstable weather at the same time.

Red. Water below 16 °C, strong wind or high waves. Swimming is not advised.

Red-yellow. The area between the flags is supervised by a lifeguard.

Purple. Water pollution. With a purple flag, swimming is not advised.
